About this specimen

Xuebaoding, Sichuan, quartz with mica at 7.3 cm and 63 g; a small cabinet piece, priced with the tip disclosed. A cluster of clear quartz crystals with pale mica and dark flecks between them, the two minerals the supplier lists; the supplier notes a very slightly damaged tip.

Good quartz is about hexagonal prisms with clean terminations and the glassy lustre that lets a cluster catch light from every angle.

Mica forms pearly hexagonal books that catch the light between the other crystals.

Xuebaoding in Pingwu County is the classic Chinese source of scheelite, aquamarine and cassiterite on muscovite, mined from high-altitude greisen veins.

The piece is small cabinet in size, 5.3 × 2.3 × 7.3 cm (2.09 × 0.91 × 2.87 in) and 63 g (2.2 oz). Disclosed condition: a very slightly damaged tip. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.

Every specimen here is photographed and catalogued individually before listing.
