About this specimen

An entire crystal stands inside this Brazilian quartz sphere. It is skeletal, built of stepped, ridged layers rather than smooth faces, with a tan-brown tip and small olive-brown flecks of mica near its base. Around it, rainbows open like butterfly wings, bright in pink, blue and gold.
Please note that the sphere has a natural cavity, which is part of the stone. Otherwise the quartz is clear and well polished, with soft white veils in the background. A fascinating piece for anyone who collects crystal-in-crystal or unusual inclusions.
