A single long prism of emerald-green beryl runs the full length of this small Yunnan specimen, set into a pale matrix of quartz with grey mica flecks and touches of rusty iron staining. The crystal is bright and saturated along its faces, with natural striations and a slightly translucent glow where light passes through the thinner edges. Turned over, the matrix shows its granular, uneven texture, framing the green crystal like a setting.
