About this specimen
Small clear-looking apophyllite crystals spread across a flat brown matrix. Several faces show broad, level tops, while the surrounding smaller crystals create a sparkling, uneven surface. The closer view separates the larger transparent-looking forms from the fine pale growth between them. A rough brown rim remains visible around part of the crystal-covered area. This shallow Inner Mongolian specimen offers a close view of many neighboring faces arranged at slightly different angles across the same supporting plate. Dimensions: 3.8 × 1.2 × 2.3 cm / 38 × 12 × 23 mm / 1.50 × 0.47 × 0.91 inch. Estimated weight: 8 g / 0.28 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
