About this specimen
A thumbnail floater of clear quartz points, each holding red-brown hematite phantoms that look like little mountain ranges inside the crystal; The form is known as red-shadow mountain quartz. The points are complete and the piece needs no base.
Red phantom quartz from Shanxi is a small, uncommon find; this is a 10 g piece best enjoyed under a loupe with a light behind it.
