About this specimen
Meigu, Sichuan, garden quartz with epidote at 5.6 cm; a small cabinet piece. A group of clear quartz crystals with a garden of green epidote sealed inside, the green gathered in one crystal near the base while the points above it stay glassy and clear.
The inclusions in garden quartz are frozen mid-growth, which is why every crystal reads as a small, unrepeatable scene.
Epidote forms pistachio-green prismatic crystals, often striated, and is a classic companion of quartz and feldspar in Chinese skarn deposits.
Meigu County in the Liangshan prefecture of Sichuan is known for green phantom quartz with epidote and chlorite inclusions.
By size it is small cabinet, 5.6 × 5.3 × 2.8 cm (2.20 × 2.09 × 1.10 in). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
