About this specimen
A few larger golden-brown andradite faces rise above a much finer dark mineral surface. Vesuvianite is recorded in the association, which has a narrow upright profile and small projecting growth along the sides. Pale specks are scattered between the darker and warmer areas. The closer view emphasizes a broad central garnet face and the surrounding granular texture, making the change in crystal scale the most distinctive feature of this compact specimen. Dimensions: 2.3 × 1.5 × 2.5 cm / 23 × 15 × 25 mm / 0.91 × 0.59 × 0.98 inch. Estimated weight: 9 g / 0.32 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
