About this specimen
Dozens of slender, water-clear quartz prisms radiate outward from a low base in every direction, giving the cluster the outline of a bristling hedgehog. Faint green chlorite phantoms sit inside the larger points, and the base carries a dusting of dark, glittering specular hematite where the crystals root.
Guangdong's Jinlong district became known after 2015 for exactly this style of green-phantom quartz with specularite; a plate this wide with the needles intact is a good example of the find, and the needle terminations are complete on the visible faces.
It measures 15 × 6.5 × 5 cm (5.91 × 2.56 × 1.97 in) and weighs 277 g (9.8 oz), a large cabinet-sized piece that is a statement piece for a display case or mantel. Sold exactly as photographed; any known repair, mount, treatment or condition note is disclosed in this listing.
