About this specimen
Dimensions: 3.0 × 2.2 × 2.2 cm (1.18 × 0.87 × 0.87 in); longest edge 30 mm (1.18 in).
A corked glass vial, about 22 x 30 mm, packed with hair-fine metallic jamesonite needles.
The needles are thin, flexible-looking and steel-grey with a bright metallic sparkle. They fill the vial in a loose tangle that catches the light from every angle. Jamesonite is a lead-antimony sulfosalt that often grows as fine, hair-like needles. Kept in a vial, the delicate needles stay protected and are easy to display on a shelf or desk.
