About this specimen
Honey-brown andradite garnets form an overlapping cluster of many reflective faces. Several larger crystals project near the upper edge, with smaller warm-colored forms filling the center and lower portions. Sparse pale quartz areas interrupt the brown surface. In the closer photograph, neighboring faces reflect separately and reveal changes in clarity near their edges, giving the broad cluster a varied pattern of amber-brown planes and small bright highlights. Dimensions: 5.1 × 1.9 × 3.1 cm / 51 × 19 × 31 mm / 2.01 × 0.75 × 1.22 inch. Estimated weight: 30 g / 1.06 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
