About this specimen

Morocco, hydrozincite with quartz, malachite and azurite at 3.5 cm; a miniature, supplied on the acrylic stand shown. Deep blue azurite and vivid green malachite grow together in small rosettes over a brown limonite matrix, with clear quartz points breaking through underneath.

Hydrozincite is a zinc carbonate that forms white crusts and is best known for its strong blue-white fluorescence under short-wave UV.

Rock crystal is judged on termination quality, clarity and how the crystals sit together, and the Chinese localities have raised the bar on all three. Malachite is a copper carbonate whose banded, botryoidal growth produces the concentric greens collectors know; the Congo material is the best known to collectors.

Moroccan vanadinite from the Mibladen district is the world standard for the species, prized for red colour and sharp hexagonal form.

Dimensions place it in the miniature range, 3.5 × 3.2 × 2.1 cm (1.38 × 1.26 × 0.83 in). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.

Copper mineral: avoid dust, wash hands after handling.

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.
