About this specimen
Dimensions: 24.5 × 16.2 × 8.0 cm (9.65 × 6.38 × 3.15 in); longest edge 245 mm (9.65 in).
This is a big, natural Brazilian quartz point with a smaller companion crystal grown against its side. The main faces are glossy and carry fine horizontal striations, the step-like growth lines that run across quartz prisms, and they show clearly in every photo.
The tip has been polished, and inside it you will find rainbows, along with scattered dark specks and soft veils near the base, visible in the close-up. The quartz is largely clear with a warm cast under our studio lights. It is, at 2800 g, a real statement piece for a shelf, mantel or office.
