Afghan lapis lazuli at 6.2 cm; a polished point. The weight was not recorded.
Lazurite is the deep-blue mineral of lapis lazuli; well-formed crystals in white marble come from Afghanistan and Pakistan and are far rarer than the massive rock.
Afghanistan's Kunar and Nuristan pegmatites are among the world's great sources of aquamarine, tourmaline and kunzite.
