About this specimen
Orange spessartine garnets punctuate a bright Fujian matrix of smoky quartz, mica, and feldspar. Several warm crystals stand clearly above white platy mica and pale blocky feldspar, with darker smoky points adding depth around the central cluster. The broad matrix remains open enough to separate each mineral habit. Two views show the three-dimensional garnets, clean host rock, and varied sparkle across this richly associated specimen. Dimensions: 6.7 × 3.4 cm / 67 × 34 mm / 2.64 × 1.34 inch. Estimated weight: 104 g / 3.67 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
