About this specimen
Pale green emerald crystals emerge at several points across a rough, light-colored mica matrix. One larger green prism rises along the upper edge, while flatter green areas are partly enclosed by the surrounding rock. The side photograph reveals how the crystals sit within the host, with cream and rusty patches separating them. This Qinling specimen emphasizes the relationship between emerald and its micaceous matrix, offering several small crystal details across an irregular, open outline. Dimensions: 4.9 × 2.5 × 3.3 cm / 49 × 25 × 33 mm / 1.93 × 0.98 × 1.30 inch. Estimated weight: 40 g / 1.41 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
