About this specimen

The top third of this Erongo crystal is water-clear, a sharp prism running up to a clean termination that throws a faint rainbow where an internal fracture catches the light. Below that the crystal changes character completely: a dark green-black mineral has been swallowed into the quartz and crusts its lower faces, and a second, smaller point pushes out sideways from that darker mass.

The Erongo granite of central Namibia is riddled with gas cavities, and quartz there tends to be the last thing to crystallise, growing over and around whatever darker minerals had already lined the pocket. That sequence is legible in this piece: clear silica above, the earlier dark lining trapped below. Quartz is SiO2 at Mohs 7 and needs no special care beyond keeping the included zone clear of hard knocks.

A small upright at 2.3 × 2.0 × 4.3 cm and 14 g, set with white museum putty on the clear acrylic cube it is photographed on. What you see here is the specimen itself, not a stand-in from the same pocket.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Quartz natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
