Olive-green chlorite has taken this Turkish quartz cluster the way lichen takes a wall — a fine granular crust wrapping every prism, gathering thick in the crevices, thinning where the terminations break through clear. Look into the larger crystals and the green continues inside as soft phantom ghosting: chlorite that was growing while the quartz sealed over it.
That double role — coating outside, phantom within — is what makes chlorite quartz a study piece rather than just a green rock. Each crystal preserves the order of events, and a small light held behind the cluster brings the interior ghosts forward.
It measures 7.9 × 5.8 × 4.8 cm and weighs 280 g. Natural and untreated; the photographs show the exact specimen.
