About this specimen
Broad golden pyrite faces show repeated shallow steps within a close group of pale calcite crystals. Several metallic forms present nested-looking outlines, while gray-clear calcite faces overlap around their edges. The front view concentrates on the larger golden surfaces near the center. An angled photograph reveals more of the surrounding pale crystals and makes the layered surface pattern on the pyrite particularly visible against the smoother neighboring faces. Dimensions: 3.3 × 1.5 × 3 cm / 33 × 15 × 30 mm / 1.30 × 0.59 × 1.18 inch. Estimated weight: 17 g / 0.60 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
