About this specimen
A cabinet-size cluster of straw-yellow to golden baryte blades packed together at every angle, each blade sharp-edged and slightly translucent so the whole surface glows. Collectors call it sword-tip baryte, for the pointed ends.
Yellow bladed baryte from Yunnan is heavy in the hand (barium sulfate) and displays well from any side; a solid example of Chinese baryte at this size.
At 12.4 × 7 × 4.9 cm (4.88 × 2.76 × 1.93 in) and 452 g (15.9 oz) it is a large cabinet specimen that is a statement piece for a display case or mantel.
