About Guping Mine
The Guping Mine (also spelled Guoping or Goupingau) in Wuzhou-adjacent western Hunan supplies collector-grade fluorite, calcite, and minor sulfides from low-T hydrothermal vein deposits. Part of the Nanling polymetallic belt, Guping is known for combining green and purple fluorite cubes with white calcite scalenohedrons in display-grade matrix specimens.
Geology & Signature Specimens
Mineralization is hosted in Devonian-Carboniferous carbonate sequences along Late Yanshanian fault zones. Cavity-filling textures preserve sharp euhedral fluorite cubes (up to 10 cm) often paired with white-clear calcite scalenohedrons and minor pyrite. The visual contrast between purple/green fluorite and clear calcite makes Guping specimens highly desirable for international collectors.
