About this specimen

Xuebaoding, Sichuan, aquamarine at 12.6 cm and over 500 g; a large cabinet piece, priced with the damage disclosed. A large flat pale blue-green aquamarine with a golden mica rosette on its face; some faces are damaged.

Aquamarine is the blue-green variety of beryl, forming hexagonal prisms with flat terminations; the Chinese material from Xuebaoding and Yunnan pairs it with muscovite and cassiterite.

The Xuebaoding veins of Pingwu County, Sichuan, produced the orange scheelite and muscovite-aquamarine combinations that put Chinese minerals on the map.

By size it is large cabinet, 12.6 × 3.7 × 8.6 cm (4.96 × 1.46 × 3.39 in) and 500 g (17.6 oz). Disclosed condition: some damaged faces. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.

Specimens are photographed and catalogued one at a time before they reach this page.
