About this specimen

Pakistani schorl-feldspar-mica at 380 g; a cabinet piece with strong black-on-white contrast.

Schorl is black iron tourmaline, the most common member of the group, forming lustrous striated prisms.

Feldspar forms the blocky, pale crystals that act as a stage for the more colourful minerals in a pegmatite pocket. Mica books, silvery to bronze, are the usual companion of pegmatite minerals and add a flash of pearly lustre to the piece.

The pegmatites of northern Pakistan are a leading source of gem-crystal specimens: aquamarine, topaz, fluorite and quartz.

Dimensions place it in the cabinet range, 9.5 × 7.3 × 5.1 cm (3.74 × 2.87 × 2.01 in) and 380 g (13.4 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.

Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
