About this specimen

Namibia schorl at 4 cm; a miniature. A black schorl prism, deeply striated down its sides, ends in a termination built from three flat faces meeting at a point.

Schorl is black iron tourmaline, the most common member of the group, forming lustrous striated prisms.

Namibia is a classic mineral country, home to Tsumeb and the Erongo pegmatites, sources of dioptase, smithsonite, aquamarine and schorl.

The piece is miniature in size, 4 × 3.7 × 3 cm (1.57 × 1.46 × 1.18 in). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.

Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
