About this specimen
Jinkouhe, Leshan, Sichuan, baryte at 8 cm; a cabinet piece. Baryte crystals in white with a faint blue-grey cast are stacked into a broad group, the flat crystal faces meeting in steps across the whole front of the piece.
Baryte's tabular blades are its typical habit, and its weight in the hand is the easiest field test.
Sichuan's alpine-type veins and skarns yield aquamarine, prehnite, epidote and scheelite of international quality.
Dimensions place it in the cabinet range, 8 × 7.7 × 5.7 cm (3.15 × 3.03 × 2.24 in). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
