About this specimen
Clusters of blood-red vanadinite crystals spread across brown baryte blades, with tufts of white aragonite filling the gaps between them; the red is deepest at the upper right and the piece is more than 500 g of matrix.
The Mibladen district of Morocco is the classic source for vanadinite and this cabinet-size piece has the classic red-on-brown look with aragonite as a bonus. Lead vanadate: wash hands after handling.
