About this specimen

All the drama gathers at one corner. A group of tabular hexagons in blood-red and orange-brown, the largest close to 8 mm across, stands proud at the upper right, while a scatter of much smaller crystals sparkles over the pinkish-tan matrix below. Through the middle of the piece runs a wrinkled black crust — a hard, dark note that stops the red from going sweet.

Vanadinite is a lead chlorovanadate, Pb5(VO4)3Cl, and it forms in the oxidised zone above lead deposits where percolating water picks up vanadium from the surrounding rock. That lead content gives the crystals their heft and near-adamantine shine. Mibladen, in the Midelt district, is the classic address for the species. The crystals are soft, around Mohs 3, so brush gently, wash nothing, and never let the piece roll loose in a drawer.

The specimen is 4.6 × 2.8 × 2.3 cm and weighs 31 g, puttied upright on a clear acrylic block that is included. The specimen mounted in these frames is the one that gets packed, block and all.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Vanadinite natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
