About this specimen

The red here is closer to lacquer than to paint: a dense carpet of vanadinite hexagons, each a millimetre or two across, catching the light in hard bright points across the face of this Moroccan piece. The colour shifts as it crosses the specimen — orange-amber where the crystals are thin and backlit, deep blood-red where they pile up two and three deep. A few larger barrels near the upper right read darker than the rest.

Underneath is a bed of cream-white bladed barite, and that contrast is what makes the combination work: warm pale blades holding cold-bright red crystal. Vanadinite is a lead vanadate, Pb5(VO4)3Cl, and it owes its colour to the vanadium. At Mohs 2.5–3 the crystal tips break easily, so resist running a finger across the face.

Dimensions are 8.4 × 5.1 × 4.1 cm with a weight of 205 g. No stand accompanies it; the specimen sits on the brown host rock it grew against. The images belong to this piece alone.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Vanadinite natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
