Rust-red vanadinite hexagons sprinkle this Moroccan plate like confetti over a bed of pearly barite blades — hundreds of crisp little barrels, each a textbook hexagonal prism, concentrating in drifts where the barite fans open and thinning to singles across the pale ridges.
The barite is half the appeal: bladed, cream-white and layered like pages, it gives the red crystals a luminous ground that dark matrix never provides. This pairing from Morocco’s Mibladen belt is the classic presentation of the species, and at 12.7 cm this is a full cabinet plate rather than the usual small piece.
It measures 12.7 × 5.1 × 7.6 cm and weighs 345 g. Natural and untreated; the photographs show the exact specimen.
