About this specimen
Mounds of pale aqua-blue aragonite made of fine needles radiate into flower-like tufts across the piece, with the needles longest along the right edge where they fan out over a dark base. The colour is even and the surface is soft to the eye.
Yunnan blue aragonite in the acicular, flower-form variety at nearly 10 cm; one of the larger pieces of this type we have handled. Needles are fragile: handle by the base.
At 9.6 × 4.9 × 4.6 cm (3.78 × 1.93 × 1.81 in) and 223 g (7.9 oz) it is a cabinet specimen that makes a strong centrepiece on a shelf or in a display case. What you see in the photos is the piece you receive; any known repair, mount or treatment is disclosed above.
