About this specimen

Guizhou blue acicular aragonite at 17 cm and 545 g; a large cabinet plate.

Aragonite is chemically the same as calcite but crystallises differently, which is why it builds sprays and columns instead of blocky rhombs.

Guizhou is the source of the collector creedite and hosts important fluorite, calcite and copper-mineral localities around Qinglong.

Dimensions place it in the large cabinet range, 17 × 10 × 4.5 cm (6.69 × 3.94 × 1.77 in) and 545 g (19.2 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.

Carbonate: never clean with acid or vinegar.

Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
