About this specimen

Backlit, this Brazilian quartz point lights up with layer after layer of green phantom: stacked 'mountain' outlines made of fine green speckles, one behind another, rising toward the tip. Between them, rust-orange speckled zones scatter like a starry sky, and in ordinary daylight the crystal shows a soft grey body with smoky shadows.
It is a natural point with lustrous faces, horizontal striations along the prism and a rough, iron-stained base. It weighs 960 g / 33.9 oz and is a long, slender crystal that displays well upright in a holder or laid along a shelf.
