White bladed calcite from Yaogangxian opens into a remarkably balanced butterfly shape measuring about 5.7 × 4.5 cm. Two broad wings extend from a compact center, with layered petal calcite and sharper tabular crystals creating depth along each side. Opposite views show the three-dimensional symmetry, clean white color and free-standing natural base of this unusual formation.
