About this specimen

Black as poured tar and faintly glossy, the host rock of this small piece carries a scatter of white calcite — rounded botryoidal knots about the size of a rice grain, sugary crusts between them, and a few thin bladed sprays that catch the light along the upper edge. A ginger-tan weathering rind runs around the trimmed sides, and pale veinlets thread the dark rock underneath.

The contrast carries the piece: a near-black ground with high-white calcite standing on it needs no other colour to work on a shelf. Calcite is Mohs 3 with perfect rhombohedral cleavage and will fizz in dilute acid, so keep cleaners well away. We are cataloguing this one honestly — it reached us without locality documentation and the black host mineral has not been confirmed, so it is offered as an undocumented display piece rather than a labelled locality specimen.

Dimensions are 5.0 × 4.5 × 2.5 cm with a weight of 50 g. The pictures record this exact piece, which ships loose, without a stand.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Calcite natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
