About this specimen
Guangdong pyromorphite at 2.5 cm; a miniature, supplied in the display box shown. Pyromorphite in a bright canary yellow builds up in stacked barrel crystals along a narrow spine, the tops flat and glassy where each crystal ends.
Pyromorphite is lead chlorophosphate, forming barrel-shaped hexagonal prisms in green to yellow-green; the Guangxi and Yunnan material is world class.
Guangdong's Jinlong district is known for hematoid and chlorite-phantom quartz with specular hematite, alongside fluorite and calcite.
Dimensions place it in the miniature range, 2.5 × 1.7 × 1.3 cm (0.98 × 0.67 × 0.51 in). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
