About this specimen
Guangdong, cerussite with pyromorphite at 4 cm; a miniature. A pale tan plate carrying cerussite, with a small tuft of yellow-green pyromorphite standing at the top of the ridge and dark iron staining running through the rock.
Cerussite is lead carbonate, notable for its adamantine (diamond-like) lustre, high density and complex twinned crystals.
Pyromorphite's resinous lustre and stacked hexagonal barrels make the Chinese examples so collectable; wash hands after handling.
Guangdong is the source of the red hematoid quartz and green phantom quartz that reached collectors after 2015.
The piece is miniature in size, 4 × 2.6 × 2.2 cm (1.57 × 1.02 × 0.87 in). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
Contains lead-bearing minerals: wash hands after handling and keep away from children and pets.
