About this specimen
Dimensions: 19.0 × 11.5 × 7.0 cm (7.48 × 4.53 × 2.76 in); longest edge 190 mm (7.48 in).
Like a chunk of rock candy, this big clear quartz block is glassy and craggy all over, with uneven natural surfaces that sparkle in daylight. From one lower edge, thick black tourmaline crystals fan out into the quartz in bold, splintering sprays, a striking contrast of jet black against ice clear.
The sprays are best seen from the front and back, while one narrow side shows a dense knot of tourmaline. The rest of the block is largely clear with soft internal veils. Weighty and sculptural, it makes a dramatic centrepiece on a console, sideboard or office shelf.
