About this specimen
Dark angular hematite forms project across a broad pale quartz crystal. Warm orange areas appear beneath the black growth, and the quartz extends beyond it in both directions. The source describes hematite replacing helvine; the visible photograph shows the resulting dark shapes without independently establishing that history. A second angle reveals the height of the central projection and the relatively thin profile of the pale crystal supporting it. Dimensions: 4.2 × 1.7 × 1.8 cm / 42 × 17 × 18 mm / 1.65 × 0.67 × 0.71 inch. Estimated weight: 13 g / 0.46 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
