About this specimen
Guangdong included green fluorite with quartz at 12.6 cm and 256 g; a large cabinet plate with soft colour.
Fluorite is the classic collector's halide: calcium fluoride that grows as cubes, octahedra and stepped combinations, often with colour zoning that shows best in daylight.
Good quartz is about hexagonal prisms with clean terminations and the glassy lustre that lets a cluster catch light from every angle.
Guangdong is the source of the red hematoid quartz and green phantom quartz that reached collectors after 2015.
