About this specimen
Fanta-orange spessartine garnets dot a quartz-rich matrix with hyalite opal from Zhangzhou, Fujian. Numerous warm amber dodecahedra follow the lower face and ridge, while a clear quartz point rises above them as the central landmark. Colorless hyalite adds glassy rounded areas between the crystals. Two views show the repeated garnet geometry and orange color continuing across the pale sparkling plate. Dimensions: 4.1 × 2.5 × 3.3 cm / 41 × 25 × 33 mm / 1.61 × 0.98 × 1.30 inch.
