About this specimen
The palette of this Yaogangxian group is winter’s: ice-blue fluorite cubes, nearly colorless at their edges and smoked grey-lavender at depth, half-wrapped in a sparkling snowfall of white dolomite. Where the dusting parts, the glassy cube faces come through clean, and fine quartz points glitter beneath.
Most Yaogangxian fluorite sells on strong color; this piece works the opposite register — subtlety, transparency and frost — and pale material with crystal edges this clean is easily overlooked at the mine and rarely offered at all. Study it up close and the smoky interior zones give it surprising depth.
The group measures 6.1 × 5.8 × 6.9 cm and weighs 196 g, displaying upright on the included acrylic base. From the Yaogangxian mine, Chenzhou, Hunan. The photographs show this exact specimen.
