About this specimen

Xuebaoding, Sichuan, aquamarine at 6.1 cm and 93 g; a small cabinet piece, priced with the damage disclosed. A group of glassy, pale sea-green aquamarine crystals with golden mica books at their base, the beryl bright; the supplier notes crystal damage.

Glassy hexagonal prisms and a sea-blue tone define the aquamarine variety.

Xuebaoding in Pingwu County is the classic Chinese source of scheelite, aquamarine and cassiterite on muscovite, mined from high-altitude greisen veins.

By size it is small cabinet, 6.1 × 3.4 × 4.9 cm (2.40 × 1.34 × 1.93 in) and 93 g (3.3 oz). Disclosed condition: crystal damage. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
