About this specimen

Curled ram horns sweep back from the temples of this agate skull, each one cut with a run of parallel ridges that spirals into a flat boss above the ear. The stone reads milky white across the cranium and warms to pale butterscotch over the cheekbone and jaw, with a scatter of pinpoint golden flecks caught under the polish and a soft grey zone crossing the crown.

Chalcedony takes this kind of work well. Because it is a felted mass of microscopic quartz fibres rather than single crystals, agate has no cleavage direction for a tool to run away along, which is why a carver can leave horn ridges barely a millimetre apart without losing an edge between them. At Mohs 7 the polished surfaces stay bright under nothing more demanding than a dry cloth.

The carving measures 6.6 × 6.1 × 6.4 cm and weighs 255 g — a one-hand piece, shown here held for scale rather than on a base. The skull in these photographs is the skull that ships.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Quartz natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
