About this specimen
This sphere is all about rainbows. Viewed from its best side, wide bands of magenta, green, gold and blue ripple outward in rings that cover almost the whole face, formed by fine internal fractures that split the light. Even the outlines of the fractures are visible as delicate silvery lines running through the colour.
Turn it to the other side and the quartz is clear and bright, with one smaller rainbow patch, a few pale inclusions and a band of golden fibres catching the light. It is natural Himalayan clear quartz, polished into a substantial sphere that rewards a spot in direct light.
