About this specimen
Most rose quartz is milky; this Mozambique sphere is unusually icy and transparent, with a delicate pale pink tint you can see straight through. A horizontal band of fine white inclusions, the 'snowflakes', drifts across the lower half, and under a single spotlight a soft six-ray star appears on the surface, its rays radiating from the point of light.
It is polished and and a few rainbow glints show in the white band when it catches the light. Diameter 5.4 cm / 2.1 in, weight 227 g / 8 oz, a small, refined sphere that rewards close viewing.
