About this specimen
Two dark green malachite spheres sit on sparkling quartz matrix from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Each rounded cluster has a rough crystalline surface, with black-green centers and brighter emerald patches around the edges. Clear to milky quartz points cover the pale host and add sharp texture around the spheres. Two views show their different sizes and the copper mineral's botryoidal form continuing toward the back. Dimensions: 2.8 × 1.7 cm / 28 × 17 mm / 1.10 × 0.67 inch. Estimated weight: 5 g / 0.18 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
