About this specimen
A cabinet-size mass of olive-green grossular garnet crystals, each with sharp dodecahedral faces, with white calcite blades rising through the garnet at the lower left and silvery mica in the gaps. Please note the calcite shows interference colours in the right light.
Inner Mongolia's skarns produce grossular in this khaki-green tone in quantity; the calcite blades make this piece more sculptural than most. Heavy for its size at 600 g.
