Shangbao, Hunan, large cubic pyrite at 8.8 cm and 207 g; a cabinet piece with one dominant cube. Keep dry.
Pyrite grows as cubes, pyritohedra and octahedra with a brassy metallic lustre; Chinese pyrite is known for sharp, mirror-faced crystals.
Hunan's tungsten-tin and lead-zinc mines have supplied the world with fluorite, calcite, quartz and sulfide specimens since the 1990s.
