About this specimen
A purple-centered apatite crystal stands among pink rhodochrosite and clear quartz from Wuzhou, Guangxi. The main apatite shows lavender outer zoning with a deeper violet core, while a second purple crystal appears along the side of the pale matrix. Under ultraviolet light the apatite has a recorded yellow response, separated from its normal color. Two close views reveal the layered purple zoning and the soft pink-white association around it. Dimensions: 2.7 × 1.3 × 2.6 cm / 27 × 13 × 26 mm / 1.06 × 0.51 × 1.02 inch. Estimated weight: 10 g / 0.35 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
