About this specimen
A patch of vivid magenta to purple-red aragonite needles spreads across a dark grey matrix, with a small transparent gypsum blade standing near its centre and a smaller pink patch at the edge. The colour is unusually intense for aragonite.
Purple-red aragonite is a recent Yunnan find and one of the most saturated pinks in the Chinese carbonate world; this is a thumbnail-size piece with the colour front and centre. Gypsum: keep dry.
It measures 3.6 × 3.1 × 1.4 cm (1.42 × 1.22 × 0.55 in) and weighs 15 g (0.5 oz), a miniature-sized piece that fits a miniature cabinet or a desk display. What you see in the photos is the piece you receive; any known repair, mount or treatment is disclosed above.
Water-sensitive: keep dry and never wash. Carbonate: never clean with acid or vinegar.
