The highlight of this large quartz specimen is the cap of blue tourmaline at its top: a crust of bright, translucent blue to blue-green prisms, some lying flat across the surface, set in a granular lilac-grey matrix. Up close the tourmaline crystals catch the light like slivers of sea glass.
Below that, the quartz body is milky white and translucent, with striated faces, black specks and a fibrous, frosty base. It measures 25 × 12 × 9.8 cm / 9.8 × 4.7 × 3.9 in, with a net weight of 3500 g / 123.5 oz.
